Course Description

This course introduces students to the ITS 9000 and EXA digital instruments and software environment. This is achieved through a combination of lectures and lab exercises.

Prerequisites

  • Ability to read and understand English
  • General knowledge of semiconductor testing concepts, including the ability to read and interpret device specification sheets.
  • Students should have completed at least one course in programming in any compiler or assembly language.
  • Knowledge of the UNIX Operating System, the "C" language and the "vi" or "emacs" editor is recommended.

Content

This introductory level course provides the skills necessary to operate and program the ITS 9000 systems. The student will be able to develop and debug test programs for IC's using the ASAP software on the ITS 9000 system.Topics include:

  • ITS 9000 system architecture and specifications
  • Functional overview of the CPU, DC, Test Head and High Speed subsystems
  • ITS 9000 Software overview
  • ASAP Software tools
  • ITS 9000 Sequencer Per Pin Timing Architecture
  • ITS 9000 Vector Compiler/Decompiler
  • Introduction to User Functions

Goals

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: Develop device test programs to test ASIC, LSI and other devices using the ASAP software tools Install and Debug programs on the ITS 9000 systems.
